freeze frame

In 2012 I got interested in the idea of freezing time. Of course we've seen this device used in various ways in movies, and I decided to apply it to choreography. 

Dancing requires commitment, not only dedication, but an unhestiating plunge into the movement the dancer does. Some movements are fast, some complicated, some less so but requiring a laser focus on how its done. In all cases, any hesitation can sabotage a dancer's performance. Rehearsals are the primary way dancers acquire the confidence to attack movement, but they still must provide their own motivations and concentration. This process has always deeply impressed me about the dance artists I've been privileged to know. It was this awareness as I was choreographing this dance that was upper most as I worked, and why I decided to title it No Hesitation.
